Although few outside of Alaska were familiar with Governor Palin just a few short weeks ago, in fewer than 42 days Americans will be required to exercise their best judgment, casting their votes for President and Vice President of this great nation. The facts merit urgent and intense discussion. We feel it is vital to move beyond “hype” and media image to gather, review, and discuss the best available information about Governor Palin’s record and views.

Each week, women bring each other and their communities together in a diverse array of forums – they drop off children at school or wait at the bus stop; they talk over lunch in the office cafeteria; they exercise, often with a friend or small group; they meet with their book clubs; they organize playdates; they attend classes; they carpool; they grab a cup of coffee with a friend.

With what many believe is the most vital election of our lifetime so imminent, we urge our fellow women to extend an invitation to their friends, neighbors, co-workers, to the men in their lives -- to anyone with whom they come into contact – to join them for a frank discussion about Governor Palin. What facts have you gathered? Are they well-supported? What are Governor Palin’s views on the issues that matter to you, your children, your family and community? With respect for one another, and armed with the best available information, our goal is to facilitate a meaningful, honest dialogue that spreads across America – not rumor or innuendo, but women giving and receiving information and sharing their unique perspectives on Governor Palin.

Please join our call to action! Extend an invitation to your friends, your family, your co-workers, your neighbors, your classmates, even if you have not previously been active in politics. Our plan is to sweep our informative, grass-roots discussions across the nation the week of October 12th. Having a book-club meeting that week? Let’s set aside time to discuss Sarah Palin and the election. Going out for coffee? Plan to discuss the election. Driving in a carpool to work? Dedicate one day that week to sharing information and perspectives about Sarah Palin and the election. The opportunities are as limitless as our collective creativity.

We invite you to use the links on this page (to the right) to obtain more information, to use our forum to share ideas and use our calendar to organize a conversation in your community. Please do not hesitate to get involved because of a concern about preparation; the links on this page will provide you with a strong start – we have collected some of the best-researched articles and materials about Governor Palin and her policies. And if you feel it would be helpful, we will try to help match you up with another interested discussion facilitator in your area.

Will you please add your voice and act now to participate in our national dialogue?

SPONSORS:

Kim Rhodes, PA
Jordana Cooper, NJ
Tracy Husted, MD
Samantha Bennett, CO
Adrienne Clough, NC
Francine Sachs, FL
Penny Strong, IL
Sandra Hauser, NY
Michelle Altieri, PA
Margaret Legler, SC
Lisa Goldsmith, MA
Cecily Strong, IL
Angela Pryor, MO
Eirene Chen, CA

The purpose of this effort is to open an informed dialogue among voters of all political leanings and to facilitate access to information that is essential to informed decision-making. The sponsors of this effort are not personally supporters of Governor Palin's candidacy.

Press or Other Inquiries: womenscalltoaction@gmail.com

K.
